Resources - Updated: June 4, 2007

NewFocus is not primarily concerned with arranging social activities for retired people.  In our view this would be to belittle the resources that retired people have within themselves after a lifetime of experience.

As our aim seeks to emphasise, we are primarily interested in using 'the vitality and resources of retired people for the benefit of others'.  The 'others' in this context will normally be older retired people but that is not always the case.

In seeking new members for our organisation we are happy to include folk who are looking for friendship and people to organise outings etc for them.

However, we are particularly keen to meet those in their 50s, 60s and 70s who feel they have gifts and experience that they would like to use for the benefit of others, for example:

boarding the coach

administration and organisational skills

driving a mini bus

cooking and serving meals

making and serving coffee

lunch for 60
pianist

home and hospital visiting

caring

chatting and befriending

computer design of invitations and leaflets

singing and drama

pianists and other musicians

sound technicians

computer operators for projection of songs

giving talks

man in apron
